Singer-songwriter Janis Ian said Monday the ruling would make it tougher for smaller acts to get heard.
| “This is going to cut off a lot of avenues, especially for startup bands,” said Ian, who concedes she does not use file-sharing services to disseminate her music, but does give some songs away on her Web site. “I’m not a lawyer,” she said, “but I don’t understand how they can hold a software company responsible for the misuses of their software and not hold gunmakers responsible for the misuses of their products.” |
